Cylinder Improves Rice Sorting Reliability

The Challenge
A manufacturer of rice sorting machines had a new model that possessed 256 channels used to sort the rice and required a rodless cylinder with a stroke of more than two meters to operate a wiper. The cylinder that the competitor provided was not reliable or robust enough for this application. The actuator body tended to bend, causing the machine to malfunction.

The Solution
Parker offered the Parker-Origa OSP-P rodless cylinder to the customer as an alternative. In addition, the customer was able to mount a bracket at the center of the cylinder to produce a more rigid assembly. The Parker-Origa cylinder was able to operate at faster speeds than the previous cylinder, improving the output of the sorting machine.
