Learn More About Stanadyne

  • Stanadyne Diesel and Gas Additives will clean, lubricate and protect your engine’s fuel systemWhat is the Treatment Ratio of Stanadyne Diesel Fuel Additives?
Treatment ratios vary depending on which Stanadyne additive you are using. Please reference the product label or the 99549 Diesel Fuel Additive Brochure in the Resources section of this website for treatment ratios.

  • Do Stanadyne Diesel Fuel Additives contain alcohol?
All Stanadyne Diesel Fuel Additives are alcohol free.

  • What is the shelf life of Stanadyne’s Diesel Fuel Additives?
Stanadyne Fuel Additives can be stored for up to 24 months without deteriorating if they are unopened and in a suitable storage environment. Additives will begin to deteriorate when stored longer or improperly. These additives can still be used, but may lose some effectiveness.

  • Why do I have to store Stanadyne Fuel Additives in a location that is above freezing?
Because Stanadyne Fuel Additives will freeze in their concentrated form but not once they are added to the diesel fuel.

  • Are Stanadyne Diesel Fuel Additives compatible with high pressure common rail fuel systems and will they harm exhaust aftertreatment systems?
Stanadyne Diesel Fuel Additives are compatible with all types of fuel systems and will not harm aftertreatment systems.

  • I am interested in becoming a re-seller or distributor of Stanadyne Fuel Additives. How can I find out more about this?
Contact us and a sales representative will contact you to describe the requirements to become an Authorized Distributor.

  • Can I use Stanadyne Diesel Fuel Additives to treat Bio-Diesel?
A Stanadyne additive will effectively treat the diesel (petroleum) portion of biodiesel and increase water separation up to B20, but ineffective on B100.

  • Can Stanadyne's Fuel Additives be used in bulk storage tanks?
All Stanadyne Diesel Fuel Additives are suitable for use in bulk storage application. However, the conditions under which it is added to the storage tank will have an impact on the rate at which it is dispersed. The level of homogeneity of additive in the tank depends on several factors such as temperature of the base fuel & additive, the size of the bulk storage tank, the degree of agitation in the tank, etc. If there is mixing/agitation in the storage tank, then the additive will be homogeneous and remain that way. However, if there is no mixing/agitation the level of dispersion in the storage tank will be an unknown variable as the rate of dispersion depends on the factors listed above. To obtain proper dispersion in a bulk storage tank, add the recommended ratio of fuel additive to the tank prior to adding the fuel. The addition of the base fuel will provide the necessary mixing/agitation. At the end of fueling, the mixture in the fuel tank should be homogeneous.

  • How long will Performance Formula keep my fuel stable?
The antioxidants contained in Performance Formula will keep stored diesel fuel stable for approximately 12 months.

  • When should Performance Formula Injector Cleaner be used?
A Performance Formula Injector Cleaner has concentrated detergents to clean CR Injectors and the fuel system and should be used on an as needed basis, as a "One Tank" clean up, or when performance issues arise. For preventative maintenance, use 4 – 6 times per year or at every oil change interval.

  • When should Gasoline Additive+ be used?
The Gasoline Additive+ has concentrated detergents, ethanol protection and a corrosion preventative to clean the fuel injection system and should be used periodically especially when performance issues arise and as preventative maintenance. Recommended use is once a month. If the vehicle and/or small engine is being stored for a long period of time, fuel should be treated with Gasoline Additive+ due to its ethanol protection and fuel stabilizer benefits.

  • What are Demulsifiers and does Stanadyne Fuel Additives use them?
Demulsifiers help make tiny water droplets to come out of suspension/emulsion, so the filter/separator can more effectively remove water. The detergents that are added to diesel fuel additives tend to emulsify water into the fuel that can cause various issues. This is why demulsifiers are added to all Stanadyne Fuel Additives. Emulsified water in fuel can cause a variety of issues including:

       • Erosion of the injectors (especially in HPCR engines)
       • A reduction of the speed of combustion resulting in still burning particles striking cylinder wall and crown
       • Volatility of the fuel in the pumps before entering the engine causing fuel delivery issues
       • Incomplete combustion/power loss
       • A dilution of the oil film in the engines cylinder leading to increased wear
       • Corrosion in the engine and fuel system components

  • Are Stanadyne Diesel Fuel Additives formulated to provide protection against the plugging of filters from asphaltenes?
All Stanadyne Fuel Additives excluding Winter 1000 have detergents in the chemistry that will help disperse asphaltene molecules in order to minimize fuel filter clogging.
