• The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) A ship classification society, which establishes standards known as “Rules” for the design, construction, and periodic survey of vessels. By applying these internationally accepted “Rules,” ABS classifies ships, which helps to ensure that they are fit for their intended service. Classification provides assurance to owners, purchasers, shippers, underwriters, and other interested persons that a particular vessel possesses the structural and mechanical capability for safe performance.

   

  Det Norske Veritas (DNV) A Norwegian Ship classification society which establishes rules and guidelines for the classification of ships, mobile offshore platforms and other floating marine structures. DNV also issues rules and standards for the classification, certification and verification of fixed offshore structures.

   

  Lloyd’s Register (LR) A global engineering, technical and business services organization wholly owned by the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to research and education in science and engineering. Founded in 1760 as a marine classification society, LR now operates across many industry sectors, with over 9,000 employees based in 78 countries. With a long-standing reputation for integrity, impartiality and technical excellence, its compliance, risk and technical consultancy services give clients confidence that their assets and businesses are safe, sustainable and dependable.

   

  Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) The mission of the MSHA is to administer the provisions of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977 (Mine Act) and to enforce compliance with mandatory safety and health standards as a means to eliminate fatal accidents; to reduce the frequency and severity of nonfatal accidents; to minimize health hazards; and to promote improved safety and health conditions in the Nation's mines. MSHA carries out the mandates of the Mine Act at all mining and mineral processing operations in the United States, regardless of size, number of employees, commodity mined, or method of extraction.

   

  U.S. Coast Guard Developed through the cooperative efforts of the U.S. Coast Guard and SAE, the J1942 specification became the official document for nonmetallic flexible hose assemblies for commercial marine use. The SAE standard covers specific requirements for several styles of hose and / or hose assemblies in systems on board commercial vessels inspected and verified by the U.S. Coast Guard.
