Meeting Your Filtration Requirements

Filter vessels can be classified by construction materials, pressure/temperature rating, ASME code or non-code, vertical or horizontal, simplex or duplex, cartridge or bag, media bed, intake or exhaust, panel, backwashing, etc. Filter vessels from Filter Resources are available in carbon steel, stainless steel and in many exotic metal alloys and are generally sized by flow rate of the product stream to be filtered. Line sizes, contaminant loading, bed capacity and allowable differential pressure are also sizing design considerations.

Cartridge Filter Vessels

Filter Resources represents several major manufacturers of cartridge style filter vessels. We provide sizing, design and fabrication of custom ASME code and non-code cartridge filter vessels.

Cartridge filter vessels can be supplied to accommodate most shapes and sizes of cartridges in varying dimensions to meet the requirements of the process stream. The design criteria is generally based on the following:
 

  • Vertical or horizontal configuration
  • Materials of construction, i.e. carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, etc.
  • ASME code or non-code design
  • Temperature and pressure requirements
  • Process stream flow rate
  • Physical and chemical properties of the process stream
  • Existing or preferred line sizes
  • Flanged or NPT connections
  • Closure styles, i.e. quick-opening, swing-bolt, flanged, etc.
  • Supplemental nozzles, i.e. vent, delta P ports, drains, etc.

Bag Filter Vessels

Bag filter vessels from Filter Resources

Bag filter vessels are manufactured in single bag, multi-bag and duplex filter vessel configurations from a variety of materials. ASME code and non-code 150 lb. rated vessels are quite often available from factory inventories in bag size #2 increments.

Industry standard bag sizes range from bag size #3 [0.5 sq. ft. surface area (4.12" diameter x 8" long)] to size #12 [5.5 sq. ft. surface area (8" diameter x 30" long)] with the most popular being size #2 [4.4 sq. ft. surface area (7" diameter x 32" long)].

Custom bag vessels can also be supplied to meet client requirements that fall outside the standard items offered by OEM bag vessel manufacturers. The design criteria for these custom units is generally based on the following:

  • Materials of construction, i.e. carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, etc.
  • ASME code or non-code design
  • Temperature and pressure requirements
  • Process stream flow rate
  • Physical and chemical properties of the process stream
  • Existing or preferred line sizes
  • Flanged or NPT connections
  • Closure styles, i.e. quick-opening, swing-bolt, flanged, etc.
  • Supplement nozzles, i.e. vent, delta P ports, drains, etc.

Air Intake Filter Vessels

Filter Resources offers standard and custom air intake filter vessels

Air intake filter vessels and filter/silencer vessels are designed and fabricated to meet the air supply requirements of compressors, blowers, turbines and industrial air handling equipment.

Standard designs are available with flow rates to 40,000 SCFM. Materials of construction include carbon steel, stainless steel and special metal alloys. Panel filter and cylindrical filter models are offered with inlet piping sizes from 1" NPT through 24" flange connections.

Synthetic filter media options with ratings of 0.3 to 100 microns can be supplied in either style of replacement filters.

Custom units can be designed and fabricated to meet specific customer needs.

Coalescing Filter Vessels

Filter Resources is an authorized representative for many major manufacturers that design and fabricate filter vessels that utilize coalescer and/or separator cartridges.

Single stage and two stage vertical coalescing filter vessels with flow rates exceeding 2000 gpm fall within the standard design parameters. Single stage, two stage and three stage horizontal coalescing filter vessels with flow rates exceeding 2400 gpm are also available from standard design applications.

Custom coalescing filter units can be fabricated to meet a variety of design conditions and material requirements. Some of the basic criteria for design would be:
 

  • Vertical or horizontal configuration
  • Materials of construction, i.e. carbon steel, stainless steel, etc.
  • ASME code or non-code design
  • Temperature and pressure requirements
  • Process stream flow rate (min. and max.)
  • Physical and chemical properties of the process stream: (continuous and dispersed phase)
  • Product purity requirements
  • Existing or preferred line sizes
  • Flanged or NPT connections
  • Closure styles, i.e. quick-opening, swing-bolt, flanged, etc.
  • Supplemental nozzles, i.e. vent, delta P ports, drains, etc.

Duplex Filter Vessels

Duplex Systems from Filter Resources

Duplex systems consist of two identical vessels sharing common inlet and outlet connections with change-over valves in a manifold system for operating the duplex in parallel or tandem configurations.

Duplex filter vessels can be designed and fabricated to utilize cartridges or bags and are available in the same range of materials, design parameters and flow rates as individual vessels.

Change-over valves are offered with a variety of seals and finishes to meet the requirements of the process fluids.

Filter Resources can supply duplex filter vessels from manufacturer standards or design/build custom units to meet service applications.

Basket Strainers

Filter Resources can provide custom fabricated basket and tee strainers

Strainer housings are available in simplex and duplex configurations with materials of construction similar to that of cartridge and bag vessels. The standard materials for stock items would be cast iron, bronze, carbon steel and stainless steel. Internal baskets are usually offered in series 300 stainless perforated materials with perforated hole size options of 1/16" to 1/2" and/or internal woven wire liners.

Basket strainer sizes range from 3/8" to 18" inlet/outlet connections providing flow rates in excess of 20,000 gpm and pressure ratings to 740 psi. Quick-opening and body flange closures are available on most models.

Wye strainers are also available with sizes ranging from 1/4" to 24" inlet/outlet connections and flow rates in excess of 30,000 gpm. Wye strainer vessels and internals are similar to basket housings in materials and opening sizes with pressure ratings to 2500 psi.

Filter Resources can provide custom fabricated basket and tee strainers based on process stream requirements.
