Activated Carbon Filters

Filter Resources provides activated carbon in bags, drums and supersacks

Activated carbon is a form of carbon processed or "activated" to increase its' surface area for adsorption or chemical reactions. It is produced from source materials such as nutshells, peat, wood, lignite, coal and petroleum pitch.

Activated carbon is produced in powder, granular and pellet forms with various sizes and treatments available for a large range of industrial and commercial air and liquid applications.

Some of these applications are gas purification, metal extraction, water purification, sewage treatment, air filtration, removal of volatile organic compounds, medical applications, chemical purification and Mercury scrubbing.

Filter Resources can provide activated carbon in bags, drums and supersacks to meet the purification requirements of petrochemical, refining and municipal applications.

Coalescing Filters

Coalescing filters perform the dual functions of removing liquids and filtering microscopic solids from air or gas streams, plant and instrument air streams, plant gas receiving points, gasoline processing plants and refrigeration systems.

Coalescing filters also perform dual functions when they are used to separate immiscible liquids with different densities such as jet fuel, insulating oil, diesel fuel, turbine fuel, lube oils, etc. They act as high efficiency filters in the removal of solids which results in a dry and dirt-free effluent.

Coalescing filters are readily available from Filter Resources in retention ranges from 0.3 to 25 microns and in specialty service categories such as caustic, surfactants, emulsions and aromatics.

Custom Filter Design

Hydraulic Filters

Highly efficient filtration is a prime requisite for the proper functioning of highly sensitive hydraulic circuits. Solid and liquid contaminants are the cause of abrasion, wear, and corrosion and both have a negative effect on the physical and chemical properties of the hydraulic fluids. The performance of filter cartridges determines the degree of cleanness of the hydraulic fluid.

The sheer volume of information, data, facts, and system parameters available makes the optimal design of a filter a difficult matter from a technical and economic point of view. Industrial Air Filters

Filter Resources provides quality industrial air filters which will improve air quality in industrial plants, office buildings, laboratories, and much more. These industrial air filters are available in a variety of sizes and filter media. We can also supply custom sized air filter to meet specifications. The most common air filters are disposable panels, pleated panels, metal panels, extended surface area filters, HEPA filters, Auto-rolls, pre-filters, and final filters. There are many more types available to suit your needs.

Industrial Turbine Air Intake Filters

Air intake filters are designed to remove dust, dirt, pipe scale, and other contaminants from compressed air and gas pipelines. Filter Resources offers small, medium, and large capacity intake filters as well as filter silencers.

Standard air intake filters housings are available in a range of CFM capacities and outlet sizes. All models can be furnished with rugged weather hoods. The standard material of construction is carbon steel with a rust preventative primer coating beneath the weather paint. Custom design and materials are available on all models to meet higher flow rates and special applications.

The replacement cartridge is often a radial fin design which offers maximum filter area, low pressure drop, and large dirt holding capacity for long cartridge life. They are also available as panel style filters with efficiencies up to 99.98% of 0.3 microns.

Industrial Water Treatment Filters

Our industrial water filters help provide clean drinking water

The purification process of water may reduce the concentration of particulate matter including suspended particles, parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi; and a range of dissolved and particulate material derived from the surfaces that water may have made contact with after falling as rain. With a focus on industrial water treatment, Filter Resources offers industrial water filters to remove contaminants and suspended solids from the water, providing clean, safe drinking water and protecting and extending the life of household appliances and critical equipment. Filter Resources specialized filtration products and process technologies include filter housings, sediment and carbon filter cartridges, ultraviolet, and reverse osmosis systems.

Pleated Media Filter

Pleated media filters provide final filtering solutions

Pleated media filters provide final filtering solutions for countless numbers of our clients' applications. The nominal pleated filter cartridge provides a large surface area that offers maximum dirt holding capacity, high flow rates, and low initial pressure drops. The normal flow direction of these filters is outside to in; however, special designed cartridges are available for reverse flow.

Pleated media cartridge filters are available in a wide variety of configurations to custom fit your application. The media and sizing can be determined by the flow, max temperature, and chemical compatibility with the process. After the particulate is identified, we can also define the micron size required to remove the contamination.

Pleated Wire Cloth Filters

Wire cloth filters are generally used in those environments where high temperature, high differential pressure, chemical compatibility issues, high contaminant loading and viscosity stress create a need for durable and oftentimes cleanable filters.

Wire cloth filters are available from Filter Resources in pleated, cylindrical cartridge, radial fin filter and or panel filter configurations. Materials of construction range from 300 series stainless steel to exotic alloys such as Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy C and Titanium with micron ranges from 5 to 5,000.

Filter Resources holds a patent on pleated wire filters for delayed coker unit (DCU) applications involving corrosive, high temperature, high contaminant loaded heavy coker gas oil (HKGO).

Separator Cartridges

Separator cartridges are readily available

Separator cartridges serve as the second stage of a two-stage coalescing filter system. The primary function of the separator is to provide a hydrophobic or hydrophilic barrier to the discontinuous phase of this process. The secondary function of a separator cartridge is to provide a filtration barrier which assures efficient performance.

Separator cartridges are readily available from Filter Resources in all configurations, i.e. pleated paper, pleated synthetics, Teflon coated screens and synthetic mesh.

Sintered Metal Filters

Sintered metal filters offer high strength and corrosion resistance

Sintered metal filters are used for their high strength, corrosion resistance and high temperature capability in a variety of industries. The immediate advantages of sintered metal filters over other filter materials are their ability to withstand higher pressures and temperatures, and their ductility and toughness to withstand process shocks and upsets.

The sintering process bonds the powdered metal particles through diffusion at temperatures below the melting point. Following sintering, the original powder particles no longer exist, replaced by a fully connected porous metal structure where the grain boundaries run over the particle boundaries.

These filters would be constructed of less common materials such as Hastelloy C-22, 316L stainless steel, HiFlow Nickel and others. They are suited for microfiltration of particulate in liquids. The sizing and configuration of these elements can be engineered per the requirements of your system.

String Wound Filter Cartridges

String wound filters are a versatile filtration option. They can be used in a number of processes and have a wide variety of configuration options. They are also generally available at a low cost and swift delivery.

String wound filters can be used in many different types of applications such as potable liquids, organic solvents, oils, acids, water, amines, and many others. They are available in micron ratings ranging from 0.5 to 200 micron and lengths up to 72".

Dust Collector Bags

Dust collector filters provided in mechanical filter systems are the preferred choice to filter and capture a wide variety of industrial dusts in the range of 0.3 microns and larger. These mechanical filters are designed primarily for dry industrial dusts, but some tolerate a minimal amount of liquid in the air or process stream.

The two most common dust collector filters are continuous cleaning pleated cartridge filter units and dust collector bag house units with tubular fabric socks. These types of dust collectors use air or gas to reverse-pulse through a wire cage venturi nozzle or cartridge core while some systems use shakers or sonic vibration to clean the dust collector cartridge or dust collector bag surface.

Dust collector bags/cartridges are available from Filter Resources in a variety of sizes and media types, including cellulose, polyester, fiberglass, Nomex, Teflon and synthetic blends. PTFE membrane coated fabrics are also available for high efficiency particulate arrestance (HEPA) requirements.

Mist Eliminators

Filter Resources provides mist eliminators in all types, sizes and materials of construction

Mist eliminators are designed and fabricated to remove entrained liquid from air/gas streams. The effective use of mist eliminators reduces the loss of valuable liquids, increases throughput capacity, improves product purity, reduces and or prevents environmental pollution and stops downstream corrosion.

The majority of mist eliminators fall in four basic classes: knitted mesh pad, vane assemblies of chevron shaped blades, cyclones and rolled fiber candles.

The knitted mesh pad provides the required separation efficiency at the lowest installed cost. The mesh pad consists of a rolled or stacked knitted mesh circular shape with a top and bottom support grid sized to fit the I.D. of a particular housing. The knitted mesh is readily available in several densities of stainless steel, polypropylene, PVDF or Teflon. Co-knit mesh pads are available with a mixture of stainless steel and synthetic fibers. Mesh pads fabricated from exotic alloys can be fabricated for highly corrosive environments.

The chevron shaped vane mist eliminator is used primarily where the mist stream contains large droplets or a high liquid load. In most cases vane mist eliminators work better in high gas velocity streams and also those with extremely viscous liquids. Low pressure drop requirements and corrosion issues oftentimes produce a requirement for vane type systems.

Filter Press Cloths

Filter press cloths are ideal for a range of industrial filtration applications

Filter press cloths are custom designed and fabricated for a variety of industrial filtration applications. These cloths are sized to fit filter plates for a specific filter press size and style. The majority of filter cloths used in the chemical and petrochemical industry are fabricated from woven and/or needled felt fabrics.

The filter cloth fabrics are manufactured from fibers such as polypropylene, polyester, PTFE, Nylon, aramid and cotton. Typical particulate retention is within the 5 to 25 micron range depending on the product or material being captured.

A standard filter press (sometimes called plate and frame filter press) has filter plates made from polypropylene that are clamped together to work in a collective manner and produce a batch of solid filtered material called the filter cake.

Filter cloths are generally sized by press plate width in mm or meters, such as 800 mm, 1500mm, 2 meters, etc.

Filter press sizes in number of plates can vary from 4 plates to 200 plates based on the gpm flow design requirements of the stream to be filtered.
